The word "Lent" has Teutonic roots in a word that means "spring." Just as spring gives us budding new branches (and a break from all that snow!), so Lent brings about new life in our relationship with Christ. By intensifying our prayer life and embracing the cross, we grow closer to God.
One article in this issue speaks to the power of prayer. Steve Badaracco's "Can you spare a minute?" also issues a challenge: What if we all stopped what we were doing and prayed together at the same time? How powerful a weapon would that be against the culture of death? Christians have long thought the three o'clock hour—the hour Jesus died on the cross—held unbelievable power over death. In this article, you'll also find the three o'clock prayer given to Saint Faustina Kowalska, known as the Apostle of Divine Mercy.
You'll find many more gems in this jam-packed issue, which also features the delightful pro-life heroine Lila Rose, and very encouraging news about two exciting new ventures in providing obstetrics, gynecology and fertility treatment in a manner totally consistent with God's law: "Helping Hands, Faithful Heart" and "Natural family planning offers hope in the Heartland."
Have a blessed Lent and Easter season—one that leads you closer to His Divine Mercy. Let us learn to trust in Jesus, receive His mercy and let it flow through us to the world.
God bless,
